What's new since our first launch

This is RetroMac's second Product Hunt launch, and the app has grown a lot.

  Dock Mode & quick launcher

  RetroMac can live in your Dock; click its icon for a slim launcher to switch themes and toggle the shader or virtual camera. A floating launcher button can be dragged anywhere on screen.

  "Dock only" mode

  Want just the retro dock without changing your wallpaper, shader or desktop? One toggle keeps everything else untouched.

  Use your iPhone as the camera

  The virtual camera now supports iPhone Continuity Camera and any USB webcam. Your CRT-shaded video shows up as "RetroMac" in Zoom, Meet, Teams or OBS. Add a lower-third overlay for that late-night-TV or 1987-newsroom look.

  Shaders on every display

  Multi-monitor setups now get the CRT treatment on all screens, not just the main one.

  New "Retro Crisis" shaders

  GDV-NTSC composite & RGB plus softer, more authentic CRT phosphor masks — no more fly-screen sharpness; it looks like a real tube now.

  Authentic Windows taskbar

  Windows 98 and XP show one elongated taskbar button per open window; click to minimize/restore, just like the real thing.

  Setup Assistant, redesigned Settings & custom shaders

  A real Setup Assistant gets you configured in seconds, a warm retro Settings skin, custom Metal shader import with a how-to guide, plus reliability fixes (dock recovery, window raising from the dock, theme/menu-bar handling, camera hot-plug).
